They shall not pass

A series of actions and events was held over the long weekend June 10-12 against the giant US-Australia military exercises, Talisman Sabre 2005.
(see Guardian No 1232, 15-06-2005).

The area of Shoalwater Bay near Rockhampton (Queensland) is set to become a new US base contrary to the wishes of the local communities who joined the protest actions in large numbers. These exercises train troops, not to protect Australia, but to prepare our military to be an integral part of a US attack force to attack other countries. The exercises pose a threat to peace and security, in particular to the people of the Asia-Pacific region.
